This download page has been created to assist users in installing RealOne player. RealOne player is a proprietary program that use very aggressive advertising tactics and is designed to offer cutting edge features for computers using current hardware.
If the web site that asks for Real Player will use Windows Media Player please do, but if not follow these instruction below in order to minimize intrusiveness of RealOne Player
Minimum System Requirements
- 233MHz Intel Pentium II processor
- 64MB of RAM
- 28.8Kbps modem (audio only)
- 16-bit sound card and speakers
- 65,000-color video display card set to display at 800x600 (video)
- Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Xp
- IE 5.0 or later

INSTALLATION
Go To www.Real.com
Look in the upper right corner for the small links that says "Free RealOne Player"
Look for "Download free RealOne" on the lower right
If you get a security warning say Yes
In about 10 seconds the custom "Real Download Express" window will pop up, let it do it's thing
After 30 seconds or so a download bar will pop up that says " Preparing to Install Realone Player", let it do its thing also.
If you get a Screen Resolution window click OK . (This would only affect you if you were going to stream video, if you are then try to use Windows Media Player.)
Now you will get the install wizard, You need to choose the options listed below and then click Next each time
- Choose Custom Install
- Choose Accept to license agreement
- Chooses T1 for Internet speed (may not show for all installs)
- Leave install location alone and UNCHECK all checks seen below
- If at this point it says you have an older version of Real Player, cancel the install and use the older version
- On the "Default Media Players" window UNCHECK All check boxes
- Select Finish
The program will then install itself, this will take 2 to 4 minutes
REGISTRATION
When done, A new window will pop up and tell to you finish configuring RealOne, click Next
- It will make you register, do so with a bogus e-mail address (see below)
- Create a password. Note: password must have 8 characters.
- Uncheck the contact me box
When you are require to enter an e-mail address use abc@xyz.org. They can't tell and this will stop them from spamming you and from selling your address to other spammers (that’s why its free) |
- Select basic setup
- Wait about 3 minutes
- If its working you should hear a RealOne commercial
CONFIGURATION
The following process will cut out spyware features and automatic actions which waste bandwidth, hurt performance and limit this programs ability to harass you.
After instalation, Go To Tools> Preferences
Go To General and select "Assume I am Online"
Go To Internet Settings and UNCHECK ALL CHECKBOXES (turns off spyware features)
Go To My Library and UNCHECK
"Enable This Feature"
Go To Automatic Services and UNCHECK ALL CHECKBOXES
Go To AutoUpdate and UNCHECK automatically download…
Click OK
Finish by rebooting your machine
ADDITIONALY
To Run go to start, Program Files RealOne, or go a website and select the medial that requires RealOne
Be prepared to close any pesky pop-up adds
If you get a RealOne Player icon in the system tray (Lower Right ) go into Tools Preferences and disable automatic startup
Do not install any additional software or downloads until you have used real player and are sure your machine is working at a acceptable level.
If you are un-happy with this program or with what it does to your machine, uninstall it.
To uninstall go to Start> Program Files> RealOne Player> Uninstall RealOne Player
Or go to Start>settings>Control panels>Add and Remove Programs
If the voice starts skipping, you have bandwidth and/or processor issues
even on a PC with 64MB I try not use Word while running RealOne
