Unreal Console Command/Key Binding Tips & Tricks

Playing the Game

Using the Summon Grenade, Summon Rocket, Summon Flakshell, Summon Razorblade, and Summon Skaarjprojectile commands

This makes for a really nasty cheat.  All you have to do is key bind any of these commands (or combinations thereof).  This way you have infinite ammo, near-nothing reload time, and you can always have a second gun handy as your main weapon.

The Dispersion Pistol - better weapon than you think
First get your pistol out. Now, summon weaponpowerup four times, and collect them one at a time.  This way you get to see the neat transformations between each stage.  Then summon dispersionpistol as many times as you need to get your ammo count all the way back up.  Also summon amplifier and activate it.  Now you're ready to rock.  The gun will now take out any creature in one shot, including Queens and Titans.  Don't believe me? Summon any creature and try it for yourself.

Be a Super-Athlete!
Type the following commands into the console:  setjumpz 3000 and setspeed 300.  You can play around with the numbers to get the combination you like best.  Anyway, you are now one lean, mean, super-fast and high-jumping machine.  Although, you may notice it is sometimes difficult to play like this, so you can try keybinding the commands.  Key bind setjumpz 3000 | OnRelease setjumpz 325 for one key, and setspeed 300 | OnRelease setspeed 1 for another.  Now you can just hold down those keys when you want to jump high or run fast.

Making really huge explosions
First, freeze the game using Playersonly.  Then pick a target; summon one if necessary.  Now, use the summon rocket command and set up tons of rockets coming from all around the target at multiple angles.  Position yourself at a good viewing angle (you might want to use the Fly command).  Unfreeze the game and watch the parts fly (if there are any left).

Great Target Practice
If you're trying to enhance your aiming skills, or want to destroy something without being chased, here's a great idea.  Get to an open spot, like the big room on the gateway map.  Then summon any stationary, destroyable object.  Back up a ways, then try and hit it. If you want something with a big explosion, try summon tarydiumbarrel or summon sludgebarrel.  This is also good for testing sniper mode.

Setting a Trap in Botmatches
First, find a narrow passageway, hallway, or whatever that one of your bots would have to come through to get to our position.  Then line the hallway or the entrance to it with exploding barrels, either using summon tarydiumbarrel or summon sludgebarrel.  The more the merrier.  When a bot comes through the hallway, shoot one barrel and watch them all explode, along with the bot.  If it didn't work, try putting the barrels closer together.

Sniper Mode
Do you like the zoom in sniper mode for the assault cannon?  Then why not have a sniper moder for all your weapons?  All you have to do is key bind any key with the following command:  setdesiredfov 10 | OnRelease fov 90.  Hold down the key to zoom in, fire your weapon, and release the key to zoom back out.  You can also use the fov 10 command, but it doesn't zoom in as much.

Looking around corners, using the Fisheye view
Just type in FOV 180 into the console.  Now you have a camera angle commenly referred to as the "fisheye" view.  It's kind of fun to look around the room in this view, but it also has other advantages.  One thing is that it allows you to see more of your gun, so you know what it looks like (if you really care).  And, if you can get past the weirdness of the view, it allows you to see more of your surroundings, making it less likely that anyone can sneak up on you.  Type in FOV 90 to return to normal view angle.  Also, there is a very sneaky trick you can do.  Bind a key with the following command:  Behindview 1 | fov 180 | OnRelease behindview 0 | OnRelease fov 90  Now, go up to a corner and hold down the key.  You should be looking at yourself in the fisheye view.  Just turn until your facing the wall, and you should be able to see around the corner.  This comes in handy alot in Unreal.  If you want to stretch the view even further, use setdesiredfov 180 in place of fov 180, but I personally don't think it's all that much better.

Impress your friends by dramatically exiting a deathmatch
Instead of quitting a deathmatch after you get killed like you probably do, try this.  When you're ready to quit, start back up again and before anyone has a chance to kill you type in Suicide.  You will spin around as if you'd been shot than fall to the ground.  A message will appear saying that you suddenly "died of a heart attack".

Using Summon Energyburst
What seems to be a pretty useless command is more useful than it seems.  If you bind it to a key, particularly if you can get your joystick to press it with rapid fire, it makes a really nifty flare explosion, which helps you see lots of thing in the dark.

Exploring Unreal

Instant Botmatches

Instead of going through the game menus to set up a botmatch, try this.  Open any map - it doesn't have to be a multiplayer map, but it can be.  First make sure there are plenty of weapons lying around; if not, summon some so that the bots can get weapons too, otherwise it won't be much fun.  Then summon the bots using summon skaarjplayerbot summon maleonebot, summon maletwobot, summon malethreebot, summon femaleonebot, and summon femaletwobot.  The more the merrier.  Now you're ready to pile on the frags.  The only thing you have to remember is that, since this isn't an actual botmatch, the weapons won't reappear, and once you kill the bots they're dead for good - and if you get killed, you have to restart the level.  Another thing you can try is pitting bots against some monsters - like a titan. That should be entertaining.

Fast way to open maps
Since you can key bind virtually anything, try key binding maps.  For instance, if there is a map you play alot, key bind it, so all you have to do is hit a button to open your map.  I myself have even key binded the castle flyby, so when I want a cool screensaver running when I leave my computer, or to show it to my friends, all I have to do is hit a button.

Explore maps and other scenic areas
First, use the ghost command and then go explore.  Alot of maps have scenic parts to them, but you can never get there to see them up close.  Like the outer space shown through the window on the gateway map, for example. You should also try to explore the Nali castle in the castle flyby.  Just type walk when you are over land, then use the ghost command to explore.  There is even a little basket ride you can take from the cliff to the castle.

Creating the "Warp Tunnel" effect and other weapon shots
Before you start, you might want to key bind Playersonly, unless you can type that word in a fraction of a second.  Then, get out your ASMD, make sure you're not facing any walls, fire it, and hit your Playersonly key *immediately after* you fire it. You now have this neat "Warp Tunnel" that makes a great picture for your desktop, website, etc. You can also try this trick with any other weapon.  Some other ones I found were neat are the Dispersion Pistol, the 8-Ball cannon, and the RazorJack.

Using the different Rendering modes
Although it's kind of against my policy of "no technical/editing commands", I just couldn't leave off rendering mode.  Type in rmode into the console, followed by a space and a number 1-9.
1 Shows you various wireframes.
2 Shows you just monocolor solid objects.
3 Shows you multicolor solid objects.
4 Shows you the correct color of the objects - but with no textures.
5 Shows you the normal rendering mode (or default).
6 Shows you a different rendering mode that still looks good (I'm not sure exactly what it is).
7-9 Don't seem to have anything different.  Anyway, if you have a really, really slow machine and really, really want to play Unreal, you can change the rendering mode to something that runs smoother, but you'll have really sucky graphics.  Other than that, there isn't much use for the command, other than to play around with it (outside of programming, anyway).

Easter Eggs and Misc.

The Pirate Theme Easter Egg

When your in the castle flyby, type in Ahoy into the console.  All the flags should become Pirate flags and the "Arrrrrgh!" message should appear on your screen.  To reverse it, type Ahoy again.
